EKG Technician

Individuals applying for this course are require to:

• Be at least 17 years of age (applicants under the age of 18 require written permission from a parent or legal guardian in order to enroll)

• Present proof of secondary education (high school diploma or GED certificate)


Program Description:


This course of instruction is designed to prepare students with competencies that are used in cardiac evaluations. Students will learn to identify life-threatening ECG readings and the role this plays when a patient experiences cardiac arrest. Upon completion of this program students will be able to identify poor cardiac rhythm tracings and show how to correct them. Students will learn to provide a safe


environment for a patient with a temporary cardiac pacemaker, demonstrate correct responses to equipment and equipment alarm and set lead placements. Students will also learn and apply the medical terminology. Graduates are qualified to seek employment in hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics and other health-care facilities.
